A Parisian griot, a balafon virtuoso from the region of Kangaba in Mali, a child born among musicians, an early musical prodigy who learned the ropes with the National Orchestra of Mali before playing with the stars of world music (Salif Keita, Mory Kanté, Omar Sosa, Cheick Tidiane Seck…). Neerman without Kouyaté is David Neerman. A French musician who expanded on his training (classical percussion and the piano) by choosing an instrument that is both keyboard and percussion, the vibraphone, who meandered through various eclectic projects (jazz, world, electro, noise, with Youn Sun Nah, Anthony Joseph, Alice Lewis, Krystle Warren…), as long as they smelled of adventure. Over the course of the last several years, Amadou & Mariam’s music has become increasingly expansive, while remaining anchored by their trademark West African blues-rock. This month sees the release of Volume One 1970-1979, a collection of songs from the legendary Malian musician Sorry Bamba. Produced and compiled by Alex Minoff and Ian Eagleson of Extra Golden - with the direct input of Sorry Bamba himself - Volume One compiles some very rare, never before released tracks from the Bamba lead Kanaga Orchestra of Mopti and the Regional Orchestra of Mopti. Idrissa Soumaoro, is back with Djitoumou and number 1 in the European World Music charts

Press Release: New release, Djitoumou from Idrissa Soumaoro. Knight of the National Order of Mali, in recognition of his services to music, yet at over sixty years of age has only released two albums. His early career embraced membership of Les Ambassadeurs alongside Manfila Kanté and Salif Keita, mentoring Amadou Bagayoko (of Amadou & Mariam) and playing with Ali Farka Toure.
