News in from Ian Anderson and fRoots : Looking For A New England 2: is a follow up to last year's Arts Council supported project which focussed on young musicians pushing the boundaries of traditional English music. This year Looking For A New England 2, takes a look at some of the musicians now resident in the UK making music from over there, over here. Read the press release and details of a special evening of music on 6th November, in the full article.
Press release : Last year fRoots magazine, with the support of Arts Council England, put together the much acclaimed Looking For A New England CD to showcase the many younger artists taking English traditional music and its influence forwards into the 21st century.
But English music has always been an evolving beast, reflecting the many peoples who have come to live here down the centuries and adopting these outside influences at will. Looking For A New England 2: The Other Traditions this year's fRoots release (again supported by Arts Council England), focuses on the wonderful artists from many other traditions now resident in England and continuing to enrich our cultural life. The concert showcases a fabulous selection from the album.
Adriano Adewale (Brazil)
Khyam Allami (Iraq)
Andrew Cronshaw & Tigran Aleksanyan (UK/ Armenia)
Mor Karbasi (Israel)

Adriano Adewale is a dynamic, creative and entertaining Brazilian percussionist and singer, who recently supported Salif Keita at the Barbican with great success.
Khyam Allami is a young oud master from Iraq, who starred at the 2010 Proms after being mentored by the BBC Radio 3 Academy. He was a hit at this year's Womad.
Multi-instrumentalist Andrew Cronshaw is one of only two artists to have ever been nominated in both the Radio 2 Folk Awards and Radio 3 Awards for World music, here teamed with sublime Armenian duduk player Tigran Aleksanyan who is an in-demand musician for many world music names.
Mor Karbasi is a sensational young Ladino singer originally from Israel, now teamed with UK guitarist Joe Taylor. Her debut album was a big critical success and she's already sold out London's Purcell Room.
Krar Collective are a very funky trio led by the amplified krar (traditional Ethiopian lyre) of Temesgen Taraken with Robel Tesefu on kebero drums and the great voice of Genet Asefa. They were also a big hit at this year's Womad
The London Bulgarian Choir are a highly skilled community group led by enthusiastic London resident Dessislava Stefanova, in the style familiar from Le Mystere De Voix Bulgares.
