News in from Musicport and early bird tickets

[news]

Kate Longmate posted news on the Musicport Facebook group, firstly to say thanks for everyone's support in making this year's festival such a wonderful event and for helping to retain the atmosphere and friendliness for which it is known.

Kate continues by reporting that, "We are still working through all the questionnaire feedback and although there are obviously some issues that affected people's enjoyment at times the general feeling was that the new venue worked really well and the good weather we ordered in for the weekend helped a lot. We aniticpated some of the issues before the event but despite our best endeavours were unable to do much about them for this year e.g catering, problems with main hall sound quality , the lack of decor in the main hall and cloakroom facilities but we have already begun to address these with the management for next year. The toilet facilities, the theatre, the Cloudbase room, the beer and the seating were definite hits as were so many of the outstanding performances.

We are offering a very limited number of tickets for our 10th Anniversary Festival in 2009 23rd-25th October (we're back in half-term) @ £70. Ring us on 0845 3732760 or buy on-line here (remember to log-in before buying)

In case you you haven't heard it the first of 2 broadcasts recorded at the festival went out on Radio 3 last Saturday on World Routes and featured performances by & interviews with both Ivo Papasov & Bob Brozman- you only have a short while to catch it on Listen Again,

The Warsaw Village Band's performance will be broadcast on Saturday 13th December on Radio 3's World Routes.

We are already working on the line-up and expect a very impressive bill of the type of acts who have made the last 9 years such a rich and varied experience with some favourites returning (thanks for you suggestions) and some acts we've always wanted to get to the festival coming for the first time. Jim, the festival director, has an invitation to visit the Australasian World Music Expo later this month in Melbourne where he hopes to see some acts from the Pacific region who might perform at Musicport in future years.

We're currently beginning to plan other events in Whitby Scarborough & Bridlington from December onwards so keep an eye on the website. There will also be more photos from this year's festival on the website in the next few days. "
