Melstar reviews the debut album, Como Lo Ves? from Swiss based purveyors of Urban Latin grooves, Lariba. “We came from the North, South, East, and the West, to test the rhythms that we love the best. Rumba, Salsa, Hip Hop, Jazz – the important thing is that you're shaking your ass!” Taken from 'Traigo un Son', the lines that for me, best define this album.
Produced in a variety of studios worldwide, there’s a world of music in this album. Each musician featured has such a passion for his and her own musical tendencies and background. Everyone seems to be earthed in their own roots and they have all come together in this rich melting pot of an album.
Opening with the firecracker of a track, 'Traigo un Son', the album continues its upbeat vein with some beautiful melodies and lip to hip smacking rhythms. I really felt 'Tanta Saudades' featuring the rapturous voice of Simone Santos. Invigorating guitar solos, sumptuous brass, and harmonies that urge you to join in come together with deft breaks, beats, and rap flow.
great examples of organic roots combined with the unique and innovative twist of the artists’ touch
The first half of the album is quite busy, full on and bursting with life. It gradually becomes more supple and smooth, yet insatiable style and rhythm ensues. Check out 'Vialante' and 'Maricela' great examples of organic roots combined with the unique and innovative twist of the artists’ touch. I’m particularly impressed by the professionalism, passion and talent of all the artists involved. Superb production, wonderful creativity and for such an eclectic mix of styles – Rumba, Salsa, Hip Hop and Jazz – it really works. The talent and vision brought together in this album is what makes it a success.
