We are delighted to have Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond of The Hut People returning to the Lift, their performance was a highlight of last July’s Weekend Special. They will be joined by Frankie Banham and Pete Jack of Mambo Jambo and together they perform as Forro Porro.

FORRO PORRO are four English musicians coming together to specialise in South American fiesta sounds - Brazilian Forró and Colombian Vallenato and Cumbia – driving accordion and drum music that raises the spirits and fills up dancefloors right across the continent. The lineup features accordion, zabumba and timbal drums, triangle, sax and clarinet, making the kind of killer rhythms that keep a party in full swing! The four band members have a wealth of experience, performing and touring under many different guises with top names in the Jazz, Folk and World Music scenes, winning a BBC award and featuring at many of the UK’s major festivals.

In the last few years they’ve appeared at Musicport Festival (09), Beverley Folk Festival (08), Bridlington Arts Festival (09) and the Green Note Festival of Latin Music (09).
