Album of the week : Infinity from Warsaw Village Band plus an interview with Mariza

Sheffield Live! 93.2FM is one year old today and GondwanaSound joins in the celebrations with an interview with Mariza, an eclectic range of music, three cuts from the Warsaw Village bands new album, Infinity, plus as it is all Saints day coming up we read out a roll call honouring musicians who have made our musical lives the richer and have sadly departed this year.

Mariza was in London earlier to promote her new album Terra. I caught up with her on the phone. Mariza has a faultless singing voice, has just released her fifth studio album in as many years and has graced the biggest stages from the Hollywood bowl, Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera house. Yet the Mariza I talked to was very humble and even shy, a very private person she lets us in to her early ventures into the world of Fado, how her father drew cartoons to teach her the words, how she handles the big stages and the expectations made of her as an ambasador of culture for Portugal.
