Album of the week : Maayo Men from Malick Pathe Sow on Musiek Publique

Welcome to another round the world music adventure from GondwanaSound, we start with a track from an album that is doing exceptionally well. The first half has a distinct African feel as we play some big band sounds from Sheffield's Rafiki Jazz and Newcastle's Soznak, some cuts from our album of the week and in the second of our WOMAD warm ups, we preview some of the many artists appearing at WOMAD.

It all changes in the second half when we welcome from Australia, The Spooky Men's Chorale.

Not sure if I was on the same wavelength as them but we certainly appreciated their singing skils whether it be a traditional Georgian sacred song or as Stephen said " a piece of contemporary musical anthropology".

We finish off with more WOMAD artists plus round off with two of the funkiest cuts around one form the latest in the Rail Band trilogy the other from an explosive compilation from Vampisoul.
