Celebrate the new album from Chartwell Dutiro, Dendre Ngoma ( Music Nest) with a concert at the ICIA (Institute Of Contemporary Interdisciplinary Arts) ARTS THEATRE, University Of Bath, Thursday 11th march at 8pm. Chartwell will be fronting Spirit Talk Mbira a vibrant seven-piece, multi-national dance band fronted by singer and master mbira player Chartwell Dutiro. They combine softly propulsive mbira rhythms with drums, bass, guitar, hypnotic vocals and elements of Western music to create a sound that is infectious, raw and irresistible.

Chiwoniso's album received high praise from Charlie Gillet, it went to number one in the European World Music Charts. Attracting attention on a number of levels not excluding the fact that its an album with strong Mbira playing from a woman, bucking the accepted norms. DJ Debbie caught up with her during her London date at Momo's.
