Album of the Week : Sory Kandia Kouyate - La Voix de la Revolution on Sterns
Welcome to another round the world music adventure which starts with the voice of the Gypsy Kings, Nino Baliardo who's just released an album Picasso. There's been a flurry of notable new releases including the Rough Guide to Morocco which comes with a bonus cd Tajine Electrik from Groupe Mazagan. Today's broadcast is all about new releases and one we have been playing the most is the two cd set on Sterns documenting the career of Sory Kandia Kouyate, West Africa's best loved singer. Pure class and we hope you enjoy the selections.
We follow that with fellow countryman Ba Cissoko and a topical track from his fourth studio album, Nimissa and then Amadou Diagne, Africa Stop Wars. Amadou Diagne won World Music Network's battle of the bands and received an album deal with Riverboat Records. With a developing them of peace and reconciliation we continue with a track from the Toureg fund raising album for refugees in North Mali and a track from Kayhan Kalhor.

New release on World Village: Mamadou Barry, a legendry name in African Music releases
From the record label : Amadou Sodia is a central figure in the vibrant music-scene of oday's Guinea. Son of a poet, Amadou was born in the town of Fadama, close to the centre of present day Guinea. He was born Amadou Doumbouya ( the sodia is taken from the name of a theatre company he co-founded in 1987 ) and it was still as a Doumbouya that he joined the Horoya-Band one of the most poplar groups in Guines in the 1970's and 80's and later sang two songs on Ousmane Kouyate's classic album of 1990, Domba.
'Tunya', is the second album by Guinean kora and balafon player/singer/composer and former Afro Celt Sound System member N'Faly Kouyaté and follows his 2004 debut 'Kora Grooves', both recorded with his band Dunyakan ('the Voice of the World').
With their latest album, Tunya due for release on the German Galileo label in August 2008, N'Faly Kouyate and Dunyakan announce a series of UK dates.
